I'm with you man. As long as you love what you're doing and you have passion for it, you'll prosper in your endeavor. I've also joined oDesk September this year, and it's been great. I've already landed several one-off and ongoing gigs. And as a plus, my blog has been getting more hits.

Hi Michael,

There sure is plenty of things many people don’t understand and fall short when they think about freelancing. We’ve both been in the call center and I know you also have a bunch of people working just for the sake of it. I understand why your mom feels you made a wrong choice. Many people thought I made the wrong choice too! But by God’s grace, 24 months after, I’m still alive and kicking and making them all take a second thought if they are really in the right place and why they ought to look outside the box.

This article have INTERRUPTED my work (i’m designing a book cover). But I have not a single regret. I’m really glad that I’ve clicked the like button there from FACEBOOK.

I’ve been through exact experience as yours. Call Center has been my place of work(for 2 years and 364 days) but not until a few weeks ago for one damn reason – FREELANCING!

Every word you drop speaks of what I’m feeling. What I am experiencing. It’s the opportunity in freelancing that made me so crazy which my Mom couldn’t understand as she keeps on asking me, “why did you left your work?!!!”. I gave her an answer: “There’s more to what’s in there, I need to get out of the cube, create my own and nurture it”.

I have a lot in my mind now and I’m afraid I might outnumber the actual article you created so I’ll resume to work. One last thing that I wanna say is, I like it when you said “love your job”. I love what I do now (Though I also love what I do before – Audit calls & emails). I’m a designer. A Visual Artist. My eyes were created to recreate, observe and appreciate what God has created. This is my way of life. I was born as an Artist and I will die as an Artist. An ARTIST!

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad to hear that you are also doing good with your freelancing. It's not easy to maintain a steady flow of income but that's where the challenge to be always one step ahead is.

I also left my regular work by which the latest company I've worked for is the call center. I am already a regular TSR there but I've decided to leave because of some reasons like your's. I am very thankful that I was able to have a stable work at home online and I manage to create my blog and sooner my website.
